The 23rd International Wine Festival begins today as part of the usual yearly programs at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba, a symbol of tourism in this nation. Scheduled for October 2-4 at the Salón 1930, it includes foreign companies, businesses, wineries, and Cuban producers, said the commercial director of the facility, Deivid Silva Alfonso, on Wednesday.
The executive confirmed the participation in the meeting of firms such as Bodegas Torres, the Freixenet Group, Inversiones Pucara S.A. (IPSA), Destilerías MG Cuba, the Ramón Roqueta winery, and Masía Valformosa (VFMS), mostly Spanish.
Also joining the event are Iberostruth de Mercado, Corporación Cuba Ron S.A. and Duprasa (with Bodegas Hueda SL) who, together with the artisanal wine producers of the Greater Antilles, will present and exhibit their drinks and liquors. This event also welcomes local producers Vinos NORY, Suricata’s Wine, Boudiag, VC Ivette, Vinos Alejo, DEJOYAX, Bodega Marpe and Rodrigar, who exhibit their dry, semi-dry, semi-sweet, sweet, white, rosé, red, sparkling wines, vermouths, brandies, liquors and vinegars.
For the first time in the history of this festival, the new players in the Cuban economy who produce and market artisanal drinks have a stand in the exhibition hall for their new products. The Festival is sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba and has the advice of the Association of Sommeliers that together with the Organizing Committee guarantee that producers, marketers and distributors have the opportunity to exhibit their new products to the market.
Silva Alfonso said the program of the meeting includes various specialized presentations of new products or companies, business meetings and master conferences. During the event, the best presentation design among the exhibiting companies and the most original will be awarded, as well as the winning wines in the Blind Tasting in the different categories and the winner in the pairing with Premium Havana cigars.
