Cuba is taking part in the 15th International Festival of Arts, Cultures, and Gastronomy of Our Peoples, continuing today in Nicaragua as a platform to foster unity and solidarity among nations.  

The event, celebrating its second and final day this Sunday, brings together artists, entrepreneurs, cultural promoters, and representatives from nearly 40 countries across Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia, and Africa, as well as 12 international organizations.  

Cuba is showcasing its heritage across three booths at the fair, held at the Olof Palme Convention Center, represented by Cuban nationals residing in Nicaragua. The Caribbean nation is offering visitors traditional Havana Club rum and roasted pork, alongside handcrafted items, cultural showcases, and authentic local flavors that continue to captivate attendees year after year.  

“Cuba shares its identity, art, culture, and gastronomy. Thank you to the Cuban residents for their support (...),” wrote Iliana Fonseca, Cuba’s Ambassador to Managua, on her Facebook profile.  

The previous day, Camila Ortega, Coordinator of the National Commission for Creative and Orange Economy, highlighted the festival’s role as a meeting point for Nicaraguan families and cultures from around the world.  

Organized by the Nicaraguan Institute of Tourism (INTUR), the festival serves as a showcase for the cultural diversity of participating nations through their cuisine, traditional dances, songs, customary attire, and artistic expressions.  

INTUR Co-Director Mara Stotti emphasized that the event offers a unique opportunity to engage with the rich cultural heritage of participating countries and celebrate their traditions.  

“What better opportunity than to gather here together as families and communities to enjoy the rich cultural tapestry brought by all participating nations,” she noted.  

Stotti also expressed gratitude for the participation of international organizations, which joined the festival two editions ago, noting their contribution to enhancing the cultural and recreational offerings for both adults and children.  

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Managua, Reyna Rueda, described the gathering as a wonderful occasion for family enjoyment, emphasizing the opportunity to share cultural traditions and, in particular, the culinary diversity of sister nations.
