Cuba set the course for Education in Latin America and the Caribbean

The experiences of the Cuban educational system for sustainable development marked the agenda of the XIX International Congress Pedagogy 2025, held in Havana with the participation of pedagogues and researchers from more than 30 countries, the media highlighted this Friday.

Cuba has a network for the internationalization of education that brings hope to millions of people in the world, whose purpose is to share knowledge and raise the quality of teaching institutions in the country and other nations. This policy, according to experts, allows academic mobility, the creation of double-degree programs, knowledge exchange networks, and the training of professionals in the sector.

For these purposes, there are 163 doctoral training programs deployed in 39 authorized universities and institutions. Several countries in the region thanked the island for its collaboration in this area, for its impact on the eradication of illiteracy in its most vulnerable population, with Honduras being the sample button that stood out the most in the press accredited to the meeting.

Honduras and Cuba strengthened their ties with the signing of new agreements that reinforce the referred to internationalization policy of Education, and reveal the model of relationship between nations with similar interests and destinies.

With the application of the island's teaching method, "Yes, I can," more than 400 thousand Hondurans learned to read and write, and are now considering joining its educational system to raise their level of instruction, updated the deputy of the National Congress of Honduras Edgardo Casaña. He also assured that authorities from both countries signed other agreements for the strengthening of ties between their teaching staff, as well as the training of doctors in sciences, which will contribute to the elimination of illiterates in the Central American country.

Pedagogy 2025 also showed successful teaching practices in terms of technology, science and innovation in favor of the quality of educational processes. At the same time, a meeting of executives of the Confederation of American Educators and the 1st Forum of Cuban teachers residing abroad took place. The latter ratified the interest of compatriots inside and outside the island to continue strengthening the Cuban educational model, which is a world reference for its training and learning programs.

In the nineteenth edition of the International Congress Pedagogy 2025, Cuba set the course towards the search for resilient, socially inclusive and environmentally friendly educational systems. This, in the opinion of Brazilian political scientist Frei Betto, -speaker at the event-, requires transforming Education so that human beings do not live without dreams, hope or utopias.
