With 17 years of creation, the Drug Marketing and Distributor Company (Emcomed) today constitutes a giant in its work as it is in charge of taking to the entire country both the inputs for the production of drugs and the finished products that are so much needed. to maintain health.
With regard to this important work, CubaPLUS Magazine exclusively interviewed Onecys Perdomo &Aálvarez, Commercial Director of the entity, present as an exhibitor at the XV Health for All Fair that takes place in the capital's PABEXPO venue, with the presence of representatives of some 118 companies from 40 markets.
Our company is a marketer and distributor of medicines and is also a logistics company with a national scope, present throughout the country, for which it has 25 distribution centers that include two transport bases, located in Havana and Santiago. from Cuba," he explained.
We are in charge of extracting from the port and airports the raw materials to guarantee the production of medicines that are made in the nation and that constitute 60% of the basic table -627 types of drugs-. The rest is imported based on the demands of the Ministry of Public Health and we transport and market them throughout the national territory, she added.
When answering a question about the objective that prompted Emcomed to participate in the fair, she said that "it is a great opportunity to be present at a fair like this, although we are well established at the national level, our presence allows us to better understand what our function is within of the country's medical insurance chain.
Referring to the activity as a 3PL logistics company -provides transport and storage services- of the BioCubaFarma group, she pointed out that Emcomed's future aspirations are to reach the 4PL category, which is the one that fully coordinates logistics, since it has its own resources and technologies to design and manage comprehensive logistics for its customers.
As a logistics operator, she added, we have many projects in the Mariel special zone. We have a space there so that, in the medium-term, we can become the logistics operator in the area because we have the experience. They would be transportation services, storage facilities to meet the essential conditions for that. We have certifications of good practices and sanitary licenses but, in addition, we have the appropriate establishments so that at a certain moment they are depositary of products that require it".
