A wide range of books chronicling the life and work of Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro was presented today at the Havana International Book Fair as part of tributes marking the centennial of his birth.
Titles featured on the fourth day of the event—which runs in the capital through Sunday—included Juan Carlos Rodríguez Cruz's Fidel Castro: ¿Qué se encontró al triunfo de la Revolución? (Fidel Castro: What Did He Find Upon the Triumph of the Revolution?) and Fidel Castro con los intelectuales: Nuestro deber es luchar (Fidel Castro with Intellectuals: Our Duty is to Struggle).
A panel featuring Cuban sports legends shared personal memories of their interactions with Fidel, while several record labels hosted a discussion on his influence in Cuban music, introducing the playlist "100 Songs About Fidel" (100 canciones sobre Fidel).
Cuba’s premier literary event opened on Monday, offering over 1,300 new releases and two million books at the Línea y 18 Cultural Center in Havana’s central Vedado neighborhood.
As is customary at the fair, alongside book launches and sales, today’s program featured the presentation of the National Publishing Prize (Premio Nacional de Edición).
Following its Havana edition through August 16, the fair will tour across the island, concluding in the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba on September 6.
