Created 42 years ago by and for Cuban women, the 8th of March Pharmaceutical company is a faithful example of what the women of the largest of the Antilles are capable of, since during all that time they have shown their effort and dedication of this entity hasefficiently fulfilled its role: to produce beta-lactam antibiotics.
In all these years, this institution has been and continues to be the only producer of these medicines in the country, so necessary for human health. It is enough to point out that these antibiotics are currently produced in its three plants in the presentations of capsules, oral suspensions and injectables.
But the work of this enterprise goes much further as it also organizes business events such as: Science and Technology Forum, Quality Committees, where innovation, talent and collective commitment are expressed. So far they have held four national and two international events for the study, prevention and control of microbial resistance, being incorporated into the National One Health Program, which highlights the responsibility of this group to contribute to the economic development of Cuba,as well as guarantee the well-being and health of the people.
Before concluding, it is important to point out that this entity, honoring its name to celebrate International Women's Day, was founded by the heroine of the Revolution, Vilma Espín Guillois, and is directed by a female, MSc. Xenia Madrazo Sagre and 340 workers labor there, of which 206 are women, that is, 60.5%. So it is worth saying that the March 8 Pharmaceutical Company is a living example of the work and self-sacrifice of Cuban women, so it is valid to remember a phrase from the historic leader Fidel Castro..."Women are a Revolution within the Revolution"... Congratulations to all of you.
