The Canadian airline WestJet announced that it will inaugurate its Toronto-Havana route on December 18th. The service will operate twice weekly, on Thursdays and Sundays.
The new connection will run until April 23, 2026, with departures scheduled from Toronto at 1:20 PM local time and arrival in the Cuban capital at 5:15 PM. The route will be serviced by Boeing 737-800 aircraft, which have a capacity for 174 passengers.
The new route joins those previously established by the same airline between Canada and Varadero, Cayo Coco, Santa Clara, Holguín, Cienfuegos and Cayo Largo.
According to aviation authorities, this increase in service will facilitate the arrival of Canadian tourists to the island, who represent the largest market sector for the largest of the Antilles.
Founded in 1994, WestJet began operations two years later. It is currently the second-largest airline in Canada, operating a total of 143 aircraft that fly to over 100 destinations worldwide . With an average of 777 daily flights, it ranks eighth among the largest airlines in North America by frequency.
