54th anniversary of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana Celebrated in Havana

The Guyana embassy in Havana celebrated the 54th anniversary of the foundation this week of the country as a republic with the presentation of the book ¨The Cost of War and Conflict for Environment and Food Safety¨.

_JTM4639.jpgSpeaking at the event, the ambassador of that nation in Cuba, His Excellency Mr. Halim Majeed, highlighted the importance of the new anniversary of his country and the presentation of that book, authored by Guyanese President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali. The reception, held at the Gran Hotel Muthu Havana, was chaired by the counselor Minister of the Embassy of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Ms. Charmane Tappin-John and It was also attended by Heads of Mission and their spouses, among other diplomats of high level, as well as the Minister of Agriculture, Ydael Perez Brito, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Public Health of Cuba (MINSAP), the José Martí National Library, the Fidel Castro Center, the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), the Caribbean Chair of the University of Havana, as well as Guyanese students in Cuba, among others guests.

During the ceremony, Mr. Majeed presented several copies of the book to a group of Cuban and foreign officials, including Josefina Vidal, vice minister of Foreign Affairs, to the Dean of the ambassadors of the CARICOM Group, Ambassador Annielou Burns Martínez, among other diplomats.
