A great Cuban Fiesta will be held on May 5 in Georgetown, Guyana, where the participants will be able to enjoy a day of music, dancing, food and, in general, a Latin American cultural show.
According to information released by the president of the meeting, Alfredo Ballestero, the event aims to celebrate the rich tapestry of Latin American culture in Guyana and, at the same time, promote tourism and cultural exchange. This, he added, will be the first Cuban-Latin American festival that will be developed under the name of “Cuban Fiesta”, where attendees will also be able to purchase crafts and, in addition, there will be games, live entertainment and a children's area.
The mission of the Cuban Festival, Ballestero added, revolves around the integration of the population of Latin America to Guyanese society, since “Cuba and Guyana have had good relations for a long time… Guyanese and Cubans are family,” he said. “This event, he considered, marks the beginning of what we imagine will be a staple in Guyana’s annual calendar of events and a prominent cultural festival within the nation.”
He also believed that the event will serve as a catalyst for community cohesion, since it will facilitate social exchange and give a sense of collective pride, while at the same time serve as a platform for meaningful socialization, encouraging interactions and exchange of ideas between the Latino people and the general Guyanese population.
The event, organized by Global Tours and Travel in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Guyana, seeks to promote Cuba and Latin America as new business and leisure destinations for Guyanese.
