Maintaining healthy lifestyle habits is always recommended as the best way to have a healthy body and a healthy mind and, in Cuba, the National Center for Scientific Research (CNIC) is a standard bearer in this sense, since it has 30 years of experience in developing natural products.
Among them is Policosanol (PPG®, Ateromixol ®), the company's leading product, which is a mixture of alcohols of a high molecular weight obtained and purified from Cuban sugarcane wax.
Some 200 scientific publications endorse the magnificent effects of Policosanol on high cholesterol, as it is associated with serious chronic ailments such as diabetes, obesity, hypertension, and the development of atherosclerotic disease, preventing the formation of blood clots that cause ischemia and infarctions in the heart, brain and peripheral artery vessels.

This satisfactory experience prompted CNIC specialists to continue research into new products based on cane wax, resulting in Vasoactol®, an alcohol extract, antioxidant and ergogenic, recommended for the elderly or others under physical stress such as athletes or those who exercise.
Another of the achievements of this scientific institution is Prevenox®, a mixture of high molecular weight acids which slows down the development of osteoporosis, mainly in postmenopausal women whose lack of estrogen encourages the loss of bone mass.
CNIC studies have also extended to beeswax: Abexol®, a mixture of alcohols, which relieves joint pain without affecting the gastric mucosa, while improving other symptoms of gastrointestinal discomfort.
Cuba's national tree, the Royal Palm, has also been the object of research and it contains the extractable active ingredient of Palmex. As well as helping to prevent oxidative stress, it improves the unpleasant symptoms of the lower urinary tract associated with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia. This mainly affects men over 50 years of age, so its use is beneficial in patients with this disease and, very importantly, with practically no adverse effects.
In addition, the CNIC markets Sacha Inchi oil capsules, another natural product, with a balanced content of mono and polyunsaturated fatty acids (omega 3, 6 and 9), recommended for vascular protection due to similar effects to that of omega 3 fatty acids, obtained from fish.
