The Baseball Association of the Americas (ABAM) was created today by representatives of several national federations in the area as a response to the non-participation of these countries in the Caribbean Series.
Federations from Nicaragua, Curacao, Cuba, Argentina, Colombia and Panama agreed on Friday in Panama to create this institution that aims to promote strong unions between the nations of the region and organize events for the development of this sport.
The alliance aims to project Latin American baseball in the world context and create more opportunities for international competitions so that new talents in the area have another stage where they can demonstrate their tools.
In this first meeting, David Salayanda was elected as president and vice presidents were Nemesio Porras, Carlos Lee, Yedrek Madalena, Pedro Salcedo, Juan Reinaldo Pérez and Roberto Braccini. The board of directors will have Ajax Delgado as secretary, Luis Villalaz as treasurer, Kodiro Miranda as fiscal, Luis Daniel del Risco will be the first member and Carlos Van Cauwelaert the second.
As part of the ABAM agreements, the holding of the first Series of the Americas was approved, to be held from January 24 to 30, 2025 in Nicaragua at the National Sovereignty, Roberto Clemente and Rigoberto Lopez Perez stadiums.
