The International Convention Calixto 2018 began in this capital with the attendance of delegates of more than 15 countries to updating themselves about the scientific results in public health at national level and abroad. 

The meeting that will take place until January 24 in the context of the 122 anniversary of the General Teaching Hospital Calixto Garcia, will welcome participants from Ecuador, Venezuela, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Belize, Dominican Republic, Guyana, the United States, Germany and Cuba, among other nations. 

In its scientific program, Calixto 2018 includes very interesting subjects as chronic and metabolic diseases, trauma surgery, head and neck, spinal column and extremities’ surgery, infectious illness and ageing. 

Likewise, will be discuss on medical technology, medical care to the serious patient, medical teaching, nursing, natural and traditional medicine, head and neck surgery, and health care management. 

The Convention’s discussion session will include round tables, lectures, panels, free subjects, electronic posters and posters, and will be a propitious framework for the presentation of more than 600 works of all medical specialties and academic services.

With regard to the meeting’s agenda, after the opening ceremony, the delegates and companies will discuss about internal medicine, ophthalmology, cardiology, angiology, oncology, allergy and urology, among other specialties. Previous to the meeting, comprehensive courses which cover different subjects as anti-clotting in patients with heart condition, ocular front segment trauma, as well as the latest advances and challenges in breast cancer, ozone-therapy and pathological anatomy were imparted.

When standing out the significance of the event, the general director of the Calixto Garcia Hospital, doctor Alberto Martinez, said that it constitutes a remarkable context for the exchange of knowledge among national and foreign professionals.
