Centro Caribe Sports (CCS) is set to celebrate its centenary in the Dominican Republic with an agenda featuring a gala, the launch of a historical publication, and events aimed at preserving the region's sporting legacy, reports confirmed on Tuesday.

These activities are part of the centenary commemorations of the organization, which is recognized as one of the oldest sports institutions in the Americas and has been responsible for staging the Central American and Caribbean Games (CACG) since their inception.

A centerpiece of the celebrations will be the Centro Caribe Sports Centenary Gala, scheduled for July 23. The ceremony will bring together sports legends from various countries to pay tribute to a century of competition, achievements, and contributions to the development of sports in Central America and the Caribbean.

The event will also feature the launch of the book “Huellas Centenarias” (Centenary Footprints), a collaborative work written by sports journalists and chroniclers from the organization's 37 member nations. The publication chronicles some of the most iconic moments in the history of the CACG, aiming to preserve the region's sporting heritage for future generations.

As part of the festivities, CCS is also promoting training initiatives for sports journalists and media professionals to strengthen specialized coverage and foster the evolution of the regional sports movement.

The governing body noted that these events aim to honor the contributions of athletes, coaches, administrators, officials, and media professionals who have fueled the growth of the Games over the past century.

The commemoration coincides with the Dominican Republic hosting the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games (Santo Domingo 2026)—an edition that will serve as a platform to celebrate the organization's historic legacy and map out the future of regional sports.
