Cuba appreciates the trust shown by Canadian businessmen

Cuba is extremely grateful for the trust placed on the island by Canadian businessmen, which contributes to national economic development, according to information released by the Cuban ambassador in Ottawa, Josefina Vidal, on her Twitter account.

According to the note, Vidal held a meeting this Thursday with Leon Binedell, new president and CEO of Sherritt International Corp., and with David Pathe, who previously held that position, during which he expressed the importance of the collaboration of the Canadian entity for just over a quarter of a century.

Since 1995, the Canadian company has been present in Cuba in a joint venture for the exploitation of nickel deposits in the eastern city of Moa, as well as other investments in the energy sector.

Sherritt International Corp. is a Canadian natural resources company dedicated to the exploitation and processing of nickel from lateritic minerals, with projects and operations in its home country, Cuba and Madagascar.
