Cuba's Minister of Public Health Jose Angel Portal reiterated here on Thursday his commitment to solidarity and to share the country's experiences to contribute to the health of other peoples.
During his speech on Thursday at the meeting on primary healthcare of the 73rd World Assembly of that branch, the minister stressed the importance of strengthening healthcare systems with comprehensive, quality, accessible and affordable services.
Portal also highlighted the achievements of Cuban public healthcare that 'guarantees the right to medical assistance to all the people, despite the current tightening of the US economic, commercial and financial blockade for almost six decades in Covid-19 times.'
Cuba ratifies its commitment to Primary Healthcare, as the only way to advance towards universal health coverage, without leaving anyone behind, as proposed by the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the minister pointed out.
Portal explained at the virtual meeting of the World Health Organization, that since 1959 the country began the implementation of social, health and public policies and drew up the strategic bases for the development of the National System under the principles of gratuity, without discrimination and with community and cross-sectional participation.
