Director of The Cuban National Ballet named jury member of prestigious lausanne competition

The first dancer and general director of the Cuban National Ballet, Viengsay Valdés, will be part of the jury of the Lausanne Prize, in Switzerland, a prestigious international competition for dance that will take place from February 2 to 9.

A press release issued this Monday by the institution adds that the jury will be chaired by Laurent Hilaire, director of the Bavarian State Ballet; the vice president will be Paola Cantalupo, artistic and pedagogical director of the Roselle Hightower National Higher School of Dance in Cannes, France.

Other well-known personalities from the world of dance will also be part of the jury, such as Leanne Benjamin, Skylar Campbell, Frédéric Olivieri, Laeticia Pujol, Wim Vanlenssen and Joy Womack.
The renowned choreographer John Neumeier believes that the competition “offers an exceptionally balanced blend of artistic ideals and practical assistance in developing the careers of young dancers, through the many scholarships that are awarded each year.”
