Hotel Inglaterra Celebrates 150th Anniversary with Undiminished Splendor

The majestic and beautiful Hotel Inglaterra is celebrating its 150th anniversary this Tuesday, imbued with the same splendor and prestige it possessed upon its founding. Its neoclassical facade retains its magnificence, a feature that distinguishes it from many buildings of its era.

Its 83 rooms, spread across three floors and served by two elevators, exude elegance and comfort. They are equipped with air conditioning, telephone, satellite TV, and every amenity guests might need for a wonderful stay.

Its prime location is precisely what makes it so appealing, as no tourist visiting the Cuban capital misses exploring Old Havana—the Marvel City—rich in history and traditions. Its streets bustle with life almost around the clock, imbuing visitors with its vibrant energy.

Throughout its history, the hotel has welcomed distinguished national and international personalities, including Major General Antonio Maceo of the Liberator Army; poet Julián del Casal; British politician Winston Churchill; world chess champion José Raúl Capablanca; and artists such as Sarah Bernhardt, Anna Pavlova, Rubén Darío, and María Félix.

YDRAY-Solarium-t.jpgFor quite some time, the Inglaterra has served as an ideal venue for Cuban artists, writers, and composers to showcase their creations within its appealing spaces, highly attractive to enthusiasts of Cuban architecture, history, and culture.

Consequently, this establishment remains a preferred choice for tourists, a fact evidenced by official reports indicating a 10 percent increase in guests by the close of last October, compared to the previous year.

Evidently, the Inglaterra, now more than ever, continues to attract an increasing number of foreign visitors daily, and rest assured that this trend will undoubtedly persist for another 150 years, and beyond.

A heartfelt congratulation to all its staff on this momentous anniversary.
