Canadian travelers can still visit Cuba through a variety of alternative transit routes, despite the temporary suspension of direct flights from Canada—which has stood as Cuba's leading tourism source market for nearly three decades.

This situation, stemming from fuel supply challenges on the island due to the tightening of the U.S. embargo, led to the suspension of services by Canadian carriers such as Air Canada, WestJet, and Air Transat, which previously operated multiple weekly flights connecting major Canadian cities with the island.

However, several convenient connection points remain highly active:

• Via Miami: Travelers can fly with American Airlines to Havana, Varadero, Santa Clara, Camagüey, Holguín, and Santiago de Cuba. Additionally, Delta Air Lines offers connections to the Cuban capital.

• Via Panama City: Copa Airlines operates regular flights to Havana.

• Via Mexico: Aeromexico connects travelers to Havana from Mexico City, while those opting to transit through Cancun can fly with Viva Aerobus to both Havana and Santiago de Cuba.

• Via Kingston: Flying with interCaribbean Airways allows travelers to reach Santiago de Cuba.

• Via the Dominican Republic: Air Century provides connections to both Havana and Santiago de Cuba via Santo Domingo and Punta Cana.

• Other Routes: Havana is also accessible via Nassau with Bahamasair, via Tampa with Southwest Airlines, and via Santo Domingo with both Air Century and Sky High.

As demonstrated, there are numerous routes available to enjoy a summer vacation on the island and experience some of the finest beaches in the Caribbean—and indeed, the world.

Travelers are reminded that when flying to Cuba through a third country, they must obtain an electronic visa (eVisa). This can be requested through Cuban consulates via the official portal evisacuba.cu, or managed directly through the tour operator Hola Sun Holidays.
