With the assertion &Our future is based on our solidarity", the world celebrates on December 20, 2022, by call of the United Nations, the International Day of Human Solidarity, emphasizing the importance of this practice for the achievement of much-needed sustainable development, in all countries, especially the poorest, smallest and most vulnerable.
Putting each person on the planet and terrestrial ecosystems and habitats at the center, with true humanism and conscience, is among the objectives set, since an increase in assistance and cooperation is urgently needed in large communities affected by a pandemic with terrible consequences, whichmany towns do not even come close to mitigating.
There are also the rigors of climate change and the consequences of declines in the production of essential goods, inflationary and health crises, lack of food and unemployment. All galloping scourges, just to name a few. Cuba, brutally and unfairly punished by the blockade of its economy and life, however, has not stopped putting into practice for a minute what is a fundamental principle of the social model it carries out: solidarity. And it does so through healthcare, education, technical advice, training of doctors and professionals, technicians and university students, from other nations, as well as sending brigades and medical specialists to work for the improvement of health in various sister nations.
It has also fought dangerous epidemics such as Ebola or has helped the painful ravages of natural catastrophes. Here it is an elementary principle to offer those in need not what we have in excess, but to share with love what we have, which is already known to be not abundant and in recent times rather scarce in the material order. And internal solidarity is also advocated, implemented within Cuban society itself, shaken not only by the pain caused by the global epidemic, but by terrible accidents and the devastating ravages of a hurricane and the energy crisis.
Of an optimistic and very cheerful nature, with beautiful cultural traditions that also unite it with life and its enjoyment in good times and bad, Cubans like parties, family gatherings and friends, where they have always toasted profusely with rum, beer and, why not, with the Creole versions of the famous sangrias of Spanish origin. We have always been very pleased to refresh our throats with that cocktail with a citrus and sweet flavor, delicious on the palate.
It is true, this year there is not enough availability of the necessary wines to taste the rich sangria on the day of its celebration, but better times will come and it is taken into account. Long live God, gosh, and long live sangria on its world day, this December 20.
Chin Chin!
