As suggested by the rare pair of animals that gives it its name, “The Fox and the Crow” Nightclub, located in the central Rampa on Street 23 in the capital, mixes different genres of current Cuban music, made by novices or consecrated groups, althoughit also specializes in jazz interpreted creole style, with a tremendous swing and a lot of heart.
This makes it one of the favorite places for bohemian lovers and its nights are lively and intense during most of the week. There you will find a bolero of bitter disappointment or an ardent love story, the vehement and sentimental feeling, born in the popular neighborhood of Key West, a son, a classical guajira or an author's song... in short, very Cuban genres with the flavor of today.
Its somewhat strategic location, in the basement of a downtown apartment building, gives the appropriate city or urban touch at your service, and that little air of complicity and mystery that the brotherhood of unrepentant night owls like so much, those children of the night, whoknow how to appreciate the good and go there to look for it, filling the place.
An original note is also its access, through an old stale London-style telephone booth, something that despite its rarity could go unnoticed if we were not attentive. The red cabin is the password, in addition to the identifying sign. Every night at 10:00 this famous Club opens, with which faithful parishioners are very attached, among which students, intellectuals, artists, young professionals and tourists predominate.
The Fox and the Crow usually offers live performances of high quality and up-to-date, which is why an atmosphere full of dynamism and movement, originality and creative audacity can be appreciated. In any case, since it has been pleasing fans of Cuban jazz for 20 years, it is a place considered irreplaceable for lovers of that genre.
For this reason, during the International Jazz Festival, the place is one of the busiest venues with multiple events on the program for each meeting. The night at “La Zorra y el Cuervo” would not be totally authentic if it did not offer the chance to taste Havana Club rum, the best in Cuba. And this is not lacking, of course, ready to be prepared in cocktails, with its three-year-old variant. A soft musical night, very soft, you will find in Havana’s La Rampa.
