Joint venture between Guyana and Ghana created

A joint venture, with the purpose of providing Guyana with a technological platform to improve monitoring offshore oil exploration and production, has just been created between this Caribbean country and Ghana, it was announced in Georgetown.
West Coast Gas Ghana is reportedly partnering with Canada-based Guyanese Tony Harris-owned e-Magic Incorporated through an agreement signed during the recently concluded Ghana-Guyana Local Content and Capacity Building Conference, at the capital's Marriott Hotel.
The new entity is a realization of the vision set out in the strategic partnership agreement signed by both countries in December 2021 and brings together the deep technical knowledge and international experience of both e-Magic Inc and West Coast Gas Ghana.
This will enable the Government of Guyana (GoG) to monitor directly and independently within the natural resources and real-time data sectors, allowing it to build its own review capacity. The capital for the association will be financed by West Coast Gas Ghana, while e-Magic Incorporated will be responsible, among other things, for the recruitment of almost all staff.
At least 75 percent of the company's senior management will be Guyanese and more than 90 percent of the workers. According to the information disclosed, the private sector partners will be responsible for providing technical and operational training to Guyanese employees so that they acquire the necessary knowledge and skills with a view to the start of operations of the project.
Both parties expressed their satisfaction with the new agreement that will enable Guyana to have new standards of efficiency, transparency and sustainability in this vital sector of the country's economy.
West Coast Gas Ghana is a Ghanaian-owned multinational company with a presence in sub-Saharan Africa, with proven experience creating and delivering technology solutions and services in the oil and gas sector, as well as designing and operating systems that they ensure accurate hydrocarbon accounting, oil and gas contract management and petroleum data management.
For its part, e-Magic Incorporated is a global technology company that specializes in providing expertise and software for the design, development and integration of large-scale industrial Internet of Things (IoT) and Azure Digital Twins solutions. E-Magic is incorporated in Guyana, with 100 percent Guyanese ownership.
