As of the next school year, to begin in September, primary education in Guyana will have Spanish as a compulsory subject, according to an announcement made this week by the president of that Caribbean country, Dr. Irfaan Ali.
According to the Guyanese president, the country's educational system has sufficient capacity to implement this decision and also said that the nation's partners have also agreed to lend their human resources to this cause.
The use of technologies and the Guyana Learning Channel will also play an important role in this initiative, he said.
The objective of this decision is to introduce the language of Cervantes from the fourth and fifth grades and, in addition, he said that he will guide the members of his cabinet in the study of the language, taking into account the large influx of Spanish-speaking visitors who arrive in Guyana. , which he considers will be a great advantage to be able to communicate with these people.
