Concerts during Musicology Award in Cuba

A varied program of concerts will take place parallel to the theoretical events scheduled for Tuesday during the 17th Casa de las Americas Musicology Award and its 11th International Colloquium.

The main event today will be the concert of Lounge Music from Havana and Santiago de Cuba in the 19th Century, scheduled for 18:00 hours, local time, at the Ignacio Cervantes Hall of the Marriage Palace on the Prado Promenade. There are great expectations about the event, as the audience enjoyed works by great composers from the continent on Monday, played by the Musica Eterna chamber orchestra, directed by Maestro Guido Lopez-Gavilan. On Wednesday night, March 4, Casa de las Americas will host a recital-homage at the Che Guevara Hall, on the 100th anniversary of Septeto Habanero, founded in Havana in 1920. French and Cuban music from the 20th and 21st centuries will be played on Thursday, March 5, at nave 3 of Fabrica del Arte Cubano (Factory of Cuban Art), by Colombian flutist Luna Tinoco and Cuban pianist Carolina Baños, with painter Raul Morejon as a guest. On Friday, March 6, after the closing session of the Colloquium and the official delivery of the Awards, music will close the meeting of the Latin American musicological community until 2021, with a concert by the orchestra Pupy y los que son son.
